The Knox County Board of Zoning Appeals deferred a homeowner's request to reduce a periphery boundary from 15 feet to 9 feet for property at 331 Granville Connor Road in Powell, citing a need to see the applicant's full plans for an intended therapy pool and pool house.
Applicant Kenneth Wires told the board the shed location would free space while he later installs a therapy pool to address a medical need. Board members said they were not persuaded by the argument that a neighboring property previously violated setbacks and asked Wires to return with detailed plans showing the pool, pool house and the shed's exact placement. Codes staff confirmed they would inspect prior compliance issues and the board moved to defer the item for 30 days to allow the applicant to produce the requested materials.
The board's deferral gives the applicant time to supply drawings that demonstrate the shed's necessity in the proposed location and to document neighbor coordination; the item will be heard again at the BZA meeting following that 30-day period.
