Knox County Beer Board approves three off-premises beer permits

Madam Clerk read each application and asked applicants to state their names and addresses. Nikunj Kumar Patel applied for Anne's Market, 8332 Chapman Highway (District 9); Nikita Patel applied for Orbit Express, 2116 West Emory Road (District 7); and Minesh Patel applied for Pioneer Market and Deli, 8119 Chapman Highway (District 9). Directors and county reviewers confirmed each applicant said they were familiar with Knox County and Tennessee beer laws, had completed or were completing server training, and that beer sales at the locations would be for off-premises consumption only.
County staff noted standard outstanding items. Codes and the Fire Marshal flagged the need for a certificate of occupancy (CEO) in some cases; the Clerk said each applicant must turn in the prior beer permit and provide the required state certificates (Tennessee Department of Agriculture or Department of Revenue, as applicable) before final issuance.
Commissioner Jay moved to approve the Anne's Market application with a second by Commissioner Thompson; the motion passed on roll call. Commissioner Thompson moved to approve the Orbit Express application, seconded by Commissioner Durrett; the motion passed. Commissioner Durrett moved to approve the Pioneer Market and Deli application, seconded by Commissioner Thompson; the motion passed. The Board offered congratulations and encouraged new permittees to contact the Metro Drug Coalition for training resources.
The Board's approvals were procedural votes to grant permits pending the listed documentation; no suspensions, fines or additional conditions were imposed at the time of the approvals.
