Pleasantville council adds $1,000 weekly cap to short-term disability policy

During Old Business on Aug. 19, the Pleasantville City Council approved amendments to the employee handbook to add provisions for short-term disability benefits. The council set a weekly benefit cap of $1,000 and authorized employees to use paid-time-off to replace the portion of their base pay that exceeds the short-term disability payment.
Council Member Aaron Hurt moved to approve the handbook updates; Council Member Kyle Patterson seconded. The minutes record votes of Hurt aye, Jon Koehn aye and Patterson aye and the motion carried.
What this means for employees: the capped weekly benefit establishes a predictable limit for short-term disability payments; employees with higher base pay may use PTO to maintain their regular income during short-term disability periods.
