Pleasantville — The council addressed two property-related enforcement items at its May 20 meeting: follow-up on a Jasper Street junk-vehicle complaint and a stormwater repayment offer from a Linden Pl. property owner.
Council member Aaron Hurt asked about a property on Jasper Street that resident Mark Smith had brought to the council's attention previously. Police Chief Adam Choat said he photographed the property and provided the images to city hall; Deputy Clerk April Schrader forwarded the photos to Attorney Bob Stuyvesant. Reed informed the council Stuyvesant will issue a municipal infraction for the property.
On a second matter, Clerk Reed said she had sent a letter to property owner Kitsis about a stormwater issue on Linden Place; Kitsis offered a repayment schedule that the clerk said would take over 20 years to repay the city's costs. The council approved offering a payment agreement of $50 per month and directed staff that, if Kitsis does not accept the arrangement, to begin remedy work and place a lien on the property. The motion carried unanimously.
Next steps: the city attorney will issue the municipal infraction for the Jasper Street property; staff will offer the $50-per-month agreement to Kitsis and proceed with remedy and lien processes if the offer is not accepted.
