NECCOG outlines RPIP criteria, broadband goals and a regional tourism district step

Staff said RPIP criteria require proposed services to be available to all participating members, demonstrate cost benefits compared with existing service delivery, and potentially reduce the need for state funding. NECCOG explained that if an RPIP application is successful it will cover 75% of costs initially and participating towns would be expected to cover 100% by the fourth year; staff emphasized that participation by all NECCOG towns is not required, but recommended at least two towns and noted municipalities outside NECCOG may join.
Other items in the discussion included broadband as a regional goal to provide high-speed internet access across member towns, the LRTP nearing final stages with staff soliciting priority projects for fast-tracking, and a CEO Roundtable item noting a Regional Tourism District may vote on a Mystic brand name with a full RTD board meeting slated for December and towns to appoint directors.
NECCOG asked towns to keep procurement policies current for ARPA reporting and named Mickey Morabito as the contact for ARPA reporting questions.
