Clarksville Community School Board approves hires, awards dairy bid and raises meal prices

The Clarksville Community School Board on July 17 approved routine personnel and purchasing actions, set several calendar changes and voted to raise meal prices for the 2024–25 school year.
Vice-President Shelley Maiers called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Board members Tim Backer, Phil Barnett and Brandon Kampman were present; Justin Clark was absent. Superintendent Bryan Boysen and district administrators Shellee Bartlett (business manager/board secretary), PK–12 Principal Kristi Hannemann and Assistant Principal Mike Rupe attended.
On a motion by Brandon Kampman, seconded by Tim Backer, the board approved the meeting agenda; Phil Barnett then moved, seconded by Kampman, to approve the June 17, 2024 minutes. Both motions carried unanimously.
The board approved the June 2024 financial reports and July monthly bills on a motion by Phil Barnett, seconded by Brandon Kampman.
Personnel recommendations listed on the agenda were approved. The board accepted hires reported in the agenda and minutes: Blaine Bilharz (associate), Laura Havlick (associate), Rebecka Mahlstadt (food service), Pamm Gott (van route driver) and Samantha Stanton (7–12 math teacher). The motion to approve personnel was moved by Kampman and seconded by Barnett and carried unanimously.
The board awarded the 2024–25 dairy bid to Anderson Erickson following a motion by Kampman, seconded by Backer. No bread bids were received; the minutes state bread products will instead be purchased from Martin Brothers through the IAEP purchasing contract.
The board approved the 2024–25 student registration fees and meal prices, increasing meal prices by $0.50 and activity season tickets by $20 (motion by Barnett, seconded by Kampman). The 2024–25 student handbooks, the classified handbook and the certified handbook were each approved in separate motions that carried unanimously.
The board approved calendar changes to set noon dismissals on Sept. 11, 2024; Nov. 6, 2024; Feb. 19, 2025; and April 9, 2025.
Administrators presented purchasing requests: the board approved buying an iTouch interactive board from VIPS for $4,135.40. Regarding the track project, the board tabled a change order but approved purchasing track protectors from Fisher Tracks for $14,768.70 and adding another gas barrel.
The board also approved Beta Club fundraisers and adjourned at 7:15 p.m. The tentative date for the next regular meeting is Aug. 22, 2024, at 5:30 p.m.
