CHARITON CITY, Iowa — At a special meeting on Jan. 26, 2026, the Chariton City Council reviewed the fiscal year 2027 budget with particular attention to employee wages and draft budgets for the sewer, street and fire departments, and scheduled a follow-up meeting for Feb. 2.
The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by Mayor Davis. The roll call recorded Ayes from Mayor Davis, Stephen Fenton, Gary Shutt and Cameron Storm; there were no Nays. Council Member Jarrett McGee is noted as arriving after that vote and is recorded as present later in the minutes.
