The Chariton City Council voted unanimously on Jan. 5 to make the intersection of 16th Street and Lucas Avenue a four-way stop and directed the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance implementing the change.
Council Member Stephen Fenton moved the action and Council Member Jarrett McGee seconded. Council also decided to leave the intersection of Ashland Avenue, Brookdale Avenue and 16th Street unchanged. The council recorded the direction for the City Attorney to draft the necessary ordinance language.
The vote was unanimous, and the council did not specify an effective date in the meeting minutes; the City Attorney will prepare the ordinance for a future meeting and final vote.
