Centerville council approves consent agenda, accepts sewer project, authorizes vehicle purchases and appoints city attorney

Centerville City Council unanimously approved a slate of routine and project-related items during its March 2 regular meeting, including acceptance of a completed sewer rehabilitation project, authorization to buy two Dodge Durangos for city use, and the appointment of a city attorney.
The council first approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from the Feb. 18 regular meeting, Park Board minutes, a beer and liquor license for Adams Bowl (LC0038220), Resolution No. 2026-4195 (Fire Department vehicle take-home policy), and Resolution No. 2026-4196 setting bid letting and public hearing dates for the Centerville Municipal Airport hangar project. Hoffman moved to approve the consent agenda; Creagan seconded and a roll call vote recorded Brauman, Creagan, Hamilton, Hoffman and Kruzic voting aye.
Council then approved Resolution No. 2026-4198 accepting final completion of the West Washington Street Sanitary Sewer Lateral Rehabilitation. Brauman moved and Creagan seconded the motion; the roll call vote was unanimous.
The council approved Resolution No. 2026-4200 authorizing the purchase and equipping of two Dodge Durangos from the Kansas Highway Patrol. Kruzic moved and Hoffman seconded; the motion carried on a unanimous roll call vote.
Council also approved Resolution No. 2026-4199 donating a cemetery plot in Oakland Cemetery to memorialize a War of 1812 veteran. Hoffman moved, Brauman seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
On a motion by Brauman, seconded by Creagan, the council approved Resolution No. 2026-4201 appointing Brent Hinders of Hinders, Updegraff & Franklin, P.L.C. as city attorney with an indefinite term; the vote was unanimous.
The meeting record shows the council approved bills as presented (motion by Kruzic, seconded by Hamilton) and adjourned at 6:21 p.m. The council is scheduled to meet next on March 16, 2026.
