Centerville revises airport hangar plan after cost review with FAA

City Administrator Jason Fraser said the initial six-bay T-hangar design showed construction costs more than double earlier estimates, largely because of increased concrete taxiway requirements. To reduce cost pressure and better match FAA entitlement funding, staff proposed replacing the six-bay T-hangar with an 80-foot by 80-foot box hangar.
No final commitment or vote was recorded in the minutes; the item was presented as a staff update and staff indicated they would pursue the revised proposal with FAA and project engineers. The council included the airport project update in its consent-adjacent materials and acknowledged further review was needed before formal action.
