Clerk reports ICAP grant and Visitor Center donation; mayor announces city attorney resignation

Clerk Gwen Blass reported Casey applied for and received a $1,000 ICAP grant and that the Historical Society received a $10,000 donation earmarked for improvements to the Visitor Center. The council accepted a bid for tuckpointing services not to exceed $10,000, approved Clerk Blass's attendance at the IMFOA conference Oct. 16'18, authorized a street closing for Trunk or Treat on Oct. 27, and approved purchase of a locking mailbox for City Hall; all motions passed 4-0 with one member absent.
Mayor Nicholas Lindberg informed the council that Attorney James Rowe has resigned and that the council will place appointment of new litigation counsel on the November agenda. Lindberg also said nuisance letters will be mailed for three properties now that updated code materials have been received.
