City Clerk Gwen Blass delivered routine clerk's reports while Public Works Director Jon Welker told the council that crews have repaired two water leaks. One leak followed a mower striking a fire hydrant, damaging the hydrant and requiring contract repairs; Welker said Max Smith Construction carried out the repair and the person who struck the hydrant agreed to pay the repair bill of $2,810.
Welker also reported that the Iowa Department of Natural Resources had approved the city's sewer permit, a regulatory milestone for the sewer system. The council did not take separate public action on either item during the meeting beyond accepting the reports as part of the agenda.
