Council sets hearing on updated city code, accepts Region 12 COG zoning update proposal

Lauren Mortensen of Region 12 COG presented the third draft of Casey’s City Code recodification and will prepare a final draft after requested edits. Councilmember Rick Blake moved and Councilmember Bret Wedemeyer seconded adoption of Resolution No. 2024-21 to set a public hearing on the updated City Code; the resolution passed with Councilmembers Wedemeyer, Theresa Schiller, Leland Acker and Blake voting aye (Councilmember Richter absent).
Mortensen also presented a proposal from Region 12 COG to update the city zoning ordinances for $1,500. Councilmember Theresa Schiller moved to accept the $1,500 proposal; Wedemeyer seconded and the motion carried by the same 4–0 vote.
The council did not debate details of the recodification at length at the meeting; staff will incorporate the requested changes and provide a final draft for the scheduled public hearing.
