Historic Preservation Commission reports bandshell fundraising success, cemetery work and 2025 projects

Vicky Gat, speaking as a member of the Historic Preservation Commission, presented the commission’s annual report to the Carroll City Council.
Gat said the commission completed a National Register nomination for Graham Park and that the Bandshell fundraising ‘‘exceeded our expectations — we were shooting for $75,000 and we have over $100,000 already collected.’’ Other 2024 accomplishments cited included a character walk tied to the local historical society, cemetery history talks on Memorial Day with the American Legion, ongoing cleaning and maintenance of older gravestones and placement of a Red Bridge sign on the Stock Trail. The commission also added a directional historical marker for Laker Court.
For 2025, Gat said the commission hopes to finish repainting an iron cemetery fence started in 2020 (roughly 50 sections remain and the commission needs funding for sand or soda blasting before repainting) and to finalize a donor board for Bandshell supporters. She distributed written materials to the council covering project details and fundraising categories.
Council members thanked the commission for its work and had no substantive questions at the time.
