One councilmember urged the supervisors to ‘‘come with a plan’’ and said the city has been willing to negotiate, while another said the public comments were ‘‘factually not accurate’’ and pledged to write an official letter summarizing what the city believes was agreed in prior meetings. A council member who attended many of the intergovernmental meetings said the county’s public remarks had cast the city in an unfair light and suggested the county issue a correction or apology.
Council members emphasized they are open to working with the county but want clearer, timely communication and a concrete proposal rather than media statements. The council asked staff to draft and circulate a response to county supervisors before the next meeting.
