Land use officer reports progress on multiple enforcement matters; Judd property cleanup ongoing

Land Use Enforcement Officer John Cody told the Town of Sherman Planning & Zoning Commission May 7 that 16 zoning applications were approved and four Certificates of Compliance issued for the March–April reporting period.
Cody provided updates on a number of enforcement matters: a planned meeting with representatives of Holy Trinity Church at 17 Route 37 Center to discuss tank placement, lighting and landscaping; continued warnings to the owner of 5 Cozier Hill Road for parking on the roadway and the possibility of a Notice of Violation if noncompliance continues; work with a homeowner on Chimney Hill Road to resolve trailer parking; and cleanup activity at the Judd properties, including removal of a storage container and a dump truck and efforts to relocate a tanker truck and remove scrap metal.
During public comment, resident J. Dwyer asked for a progress update on the Judd property. Cody said he observed movement and clearing and cautioned that the cleanup will take time given that materials accumulated over decades, but he stated he believes the family is making good progress.
The commission accepted Cody’s March–April report by unanimous vote.
