The Town of Sherman Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously approved a special permit May 7 for a 400‑square‑foot accessory apartment to be built within the footprint of an existing 40‑by‑40‑foot garage at 13 A Osborn Road.
The commission heard the application during a public hearing opened by Chair C. Dacunha. Administrative Clerk Christine Branson told the commission the application file included a fully executed special permit application, a health department approval dated March 13, 2026, floor plans, architectural elevations and foundation plans, a marked‑up map showing two parking spaces, a three‑dimensional rendering, an A‑2 survey prepared by NOK Civil Engineering & Land Surveying (dated Feb. 12, 2026) and an abutters list for properties within 500 feet. Commissioners performed a site walk of the property on April 20, 2026.
There were no letters for or against the proposal and no members of the public spoke in opposition during the hearing. After deliberations the commission found the proposal complies with Zoning Regulation Section 324.1.A.2 and P. Voorhees moved to approve the special permit; J. Burruano seconded and the vote was unanimous.
The approval allows the applicant to proceed with the accessory apartment as described in the submitted plans; the record does not indicate additional conditions beyond the materials filed. The commission did not record a roll‑call tally in the minutes, noting the motion passed unanimously.
The commission took no additional action at this meeting on the property.
