SVFD says new mini pumper arriving, reports 99 calls and plans August community ball event

Fire Chief Chris Fuchs updated the Board of Selectmen on April 23 that the Sherman Volunteer Fire Department had responded to 99 calls recently, including motor-vehicle accidents, falls and hiking-trail incidents.
Fuchs said a mini pumper arrived in Connecticut and is currently at the dealer being fitted with hoses and tools; after training, the vehicle should be placed into service in early June. When Business Manager Liz LaVia asked about invoices, Fuchs estimated mid-May; when Treasurer Andrea Maloney asked if the truck would be in the parade, Fuchs said yes and noted the Ball Committee has already begun planning.
Fuchs's update was presented as part of the Information & Discussion portion of the meeting; the board did not take formal action on the department update.
