Board offers EMS director post to Cristgen Graham as county plans phased EMS assumption

The Franklin County Commission voted March 18 to extend an offer of employment to Cristgen Graham as EMS Director after a hiring committee reviewed 14 applications and interviewed six candidates.
Erin Griffith said the committee recommended Graham and the Board approved the hire on a motion by Commissioner Croom seconded by Commissioner Ward (5‑0). Commissioner Croom noted a strong applicant pool and thanked staff for recruiting and screening candidates.
Staff also provided an update on the broader EMS assumption. Griffith said several policy and contract items remain: a medical director contract, a billing company contract and payroll procedures, and that the county wants the EMS Director in place to help complete interviews and hiring for other EMS positions. She said the county will continue its current allocation to the incumbent ambulance provider for April and May and that full assumption of EMS operations is unlikely prior to June 1.
The Board recorded that the county is preparing an RFP for ambulance billing and working with EMS consultant Richard Lewis on implementation steps.
Next steps: county staff will extend a conditional offer to Cristgen Graham and continue work on medical director and billing company contracts and operational policies before final service assumption.
