At the meeting council approved multiple property transactions and contracts designed to return city-owned properties to productive use.
Resolutions adopted include selling Lot 10 Block N (817 Lee) and Lot 11 (813 Lee) to Rippling Waters, a nonprofit, at $125 per lot each to support a planned duplex; the council adopted Resolutions 20 and 22 to accept the offers. For 901 Queen the city received five bids and staff recommended awarding the property to Manny Martinez for $17,200; Resolution 37 accepting that bid was adopted.
The council also awarded demolition and asbestos-abatement contracts to Tourus Construction for condemned properties: Resolution 35 authorized abatement/demolition at 1550 Maple (bid $17,000) and Resolution 36 authorized work at 424 Waverly (bid $8,250). Staff explained asbestos-handling protocols and landfill procedures and confirmed contractors carry required certifications.
Separately, the council adopted Resolution 43 removing special assessments (cleanup/mowing fees) on three properties (126 S. Cooper, 422 N. Buffalo and a vacant Hackberry lot) so the city can sell them free of outstanding debts. Staff said removing assessments improves transparency for potential buyers and helps the city sell nuisance-acquired properties more effectively.
Council votes on these items were recorded in each resolution’s roll call.
