Board designates Franklin County Economic Development Council, approves structure contingent on attorney review

He said the council’s first tasks will include drafting a strategic plan, aligning targeted-industry priorities with housing and workforce initiatives, and compiling site-selection metrics to show readiness to investors and state partners.
The motion, made by Commissioner Jessica Ward and seconded by Commissioner Anthony Croom, passed unanimously 5–0 (contingent on attorney review). Chair Jones said he expects the council to help Franklin County move from ad-hoc economic opportunities to a coordinated, strategic approach.
What’s next: County legal staff will review the designation paperwork and the EDC will notify Florida Department of Commerce, Florida’s Great Northwest and Opportunity Florida of its status. Williams and board members said they will return with a recommended budget and operational model once the council completes bylaws and articles of incorporation.
