Tibbetts reports summer lineup; DDA staff outline grants, recruiting and upcoming downtown events

Matt provided the Tibbetts update, saying a forum on technology and life will follow a matinee of Dear Evan Hansen (forum in partnership with Pines Behavioral Health), The Insiders (a Tom Petty tribute) will perform July 2, and Rock of Ages is scheduled later in the season. Matt also described the children’s art show in the Tibbetts gallery and a leasing program that places framed student winners in downtown businesses.
Director Kristin reported the Beach House SHIPO grant was submitted for structural repairs and that staff expect a response within about a month. Kristin described the DDA’s "ready to recruit" work—preparing real-estate cut sheets, an updated downtown map and incentives material—and said staff are entering business and building inventory into BoomTracker through Main Street America.
Kristin also described upcoming family-oriented activities: a helium-bubble art demonstration planned for Hop on Monroe on July 16 and the first farmers market of the season starting the following Saturday. Art After Hours has been postponed to Oct. 2 to align with Oktoberfest; businesses and artists may now apply via the DDA website.
Next steps: Tibbetts events proceed as scheduled; DDA staff will continue recruitment materials and follow up on the Beach House grant response and facade grant applications.
