Staff said bids ranged from approximately $167,000 to $336,000, all below the $425,000 engineer’s estimate; engineering review recommended awarding the contract to the lowest responsible bidder, DW Zer. Staff told council demolition could be complete by June 2025 if the contract is executed.
During the public hearing several speakers noted uncertainty about long-term plans for the parcel and urged caution about committing demolition funds while the city faces operating-budget pressures. Staff responded that the bid prices were favorable and recommended moving forward. Council closed the public hearing and passed the resolution approving plans, receiving bids and making the award by roll call vote.
