Geary County approves Walker Road vacation after road viewers find no adverse impacts

The Geary County Commission voted unanimously Feb. 9 to accept a road viewers' certificate and vacate Walker Road, following a public hearing in which three appointed viewers reported no adverse effect on landowners.
The Geary County Commission unanimously approved a petition to vacate Walker Road after road viewers reported the vacation would not adversely affect any landowners.
Chair Kathy Tremont opened the public hearing and the board appointed Bobby Miller, Alan Hildebrand and Terry Heldstab as road viewers. "The road viewers agreed that the road vacation would have no adverse effect on any landowners," a certificate of viewing presented by Bobby Miller stated. Commissioner Keith Ascher moved to accept the road viewers' recommendation; Commissioner Trish Giordano seconded the motion and all voted aye.
The action was recorded as a standard vacation process following the county's road-viewing procedures; the certificate of viewing was entered into the record and accepted by vote. No members of the public were present to comment during the meeting.
The board continued with other agenda items, including finance and sheriff updates, and adjourned at 12:12 p.m.
