Public Works committee forwards school-fence agreement and road-project funding to council

The Public Works committee reviewed three items to forward to the city council. First, staff recommended a resolution allowing Central School District 104 to install a four-foot decorative aluminum fence in city right-of-way along Hartman Lane near Don Eller Elementary; the agreement places liability with the school district and gives the city authority to require removal if the right-of-way is needed. The committee voted to forward the agreement.
Second, staff sought authorization to use motor-fuel-tax funds to pay a remaining city share of the North Seven Hills Road resurfacing project. The project was completed earlier; federal funding covered part of the cost and the project bid higher than estimated. Staff said the outstanding balance to IDOT is about $93,590.79; the committee approved forwarding that authorization to council.
Third, the committee approved an IDOT engineering-services agreement with Oates Associates for the Hartman Lane patching project (the remaining segment the city controls); federal funds and motor-fuel-tax funds will be used and staff noted construction timing may be 2027 or 2028 depending on IDOT. All three items will go to council for final action.
