Board continues enforcement on Edward Road properties, approves appointments and seeks bids for landfill mowing

At its June 22 meeting the Townsend Board of Health continued enforcement action for nuisance and sanitary violations at 61 and 45 Edward Road after staff reported that certified delivery to 61 was returned as undeliverable.
Staff said the 30-calendar-day compliance period runs from the delivery date (assumed June 16), and that the board will revisit the matter at its July 27 meeting to determine compliance and next steps. The board voted to continue the enforcement discussion until that meeting.
On administrative business the board reappointed a member to the recycling committee to a three-year term and reappointed the town clerk, Harrison Mayot, as burial agent for a one-year term. The board approved minutes from March 23, 2026 and authorized invoices totaling $1,811 for the month of June.
For landfill maintenance staff reported limited vendor responses to mowing bids and noted that the landfill slope requires specialized equipment. The board voted to contact Shepherd's Landscaping (the long-time contractor) to arrange mowing for fiscal year 2027 and acknowledged the town budgets approximately $5,500–$5,700 for the work.
The board set its next meeting for July 13, 2026 and adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
