Yarmouth Board of Assessors authorizes staff to stamp exemption and abatement forms, approves monthly reports

At its Jan. 29 meeting the Town of Yarmouth Board of Assessors authorized staff to stamp statutory exemption and abatement applications, approved and signed monthly assessor reports, and moved into executive session to review real estate abatement applications; the director reported roughly 370 exemptions processed so far and a statutory filing deadline of April 7, 2026.
The Town of Yarmouth Board of Assessors on Jan. 29 authorized the Assessor’s office to stamp statutory exemption applications, abatement applications and denial notices and approved and signed its monthly assessor reports.
The meeting opened at 10:00 a.m., with Board member Pauline Israelian calling the session to order. Director of Assessing Andy Machado reported that assessing staff have been reviewing remaining real estate abatement applications, that the first 2026 motor vehicle excise tax commitment and the seventh of 2025 were issued on Jan. 23, 2026, and that the office has processed approximately 370 statutory exemptions so far this fiscal year. Machado also reminded residents that the filing deadline for statutory exemptions is April 7, 2026.
Under new business the board made and seconded a motion to authorize the assessor’s office to stamp statutory exemption and abatement applications and denial notices; the motion was approved unanimously. The board then moved and seconded to approve and sign the monthly assessor reports; that motion likewise passed unanimously and the members signed the reports.
Before adjourning the open meeting at 10:20 a.m., Board member Pauline Israelian moved to adjourn the open meeting, a motion seconded by Board member Carlene Jones; that motion was approved unanimously. The board then voted to convene an executive session under Massachusetts General Laws c. 30A §21(a)(7) to comply with Massachusetts General Laws c. 59 §60 for the purpose of reviewing and discussing real estate abatement applications. Minutes were submitted by Assistant Assessor Tara Monroe.
The next Board of Assessors meeting is scheduled for April 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Yarmouth Town Hall, Conference Room A.
