The Clarksville City Council approved a sealed-bid process to sell firearms for which there is public interest, after consulting the City Attorney on a recommended method.
Mayor Jerald Heuer told the council multiple people had expressed interest in purchasing firearms the city holds and said the City Attorney recommended advertising the sale and accepting sealed bids. Council member Taran Sherburne moved to approve sealed bidding as the sale method; Jennifer Kielman seconded the motion. The motion passed with Roger Doty, Jessi Reints, Kielman and Sherburne voting aye; Ruth Saulsbury was absent.
The council did not adopt a specific advertising schedule or timeline at the meeting; staff were directed to follow the City Attorney’s recommended sealed-bid process and return with logistical details and a public notice draft if required.
