The township committee voted to approve an outdoor assembly permit for a car show at Princeton Airport on Aug. 17 (Resolution 24-7-237). Staff said traffic, health and fire approvals have been received and that the promoter expects online registration only. Lieutenant Perry said two officers will be assigned specifically to the event for on-site security and traffic control; prior events had required more officers when attendance grew.
Residents raised concerns during public comment about speeding and racing on River Road before and after such events. Thomas Lee told the committee he has repeatedly observed dangerous speeds and urged more enforcement. Committee members asked whether promoters should be required to pay for additional officers to patrol surrounding roads; police said officers assigned to an event generally cover the event itself and nearby traffic control but not wider town patrols.
After discussion, the permit passed on roll call with one 'No' vote from a committee member who cited off-site safety issues and the need for stricter traffic mitigation. Staff said they will provide after-action reports from the police and consider ordinance or permit changes when recodifying outdoor-assembly rules to address larger events.
