The Montgomery Township Planning Board on Aug. 12 recommended that the governing body amend the township land‑use code to remove the Montgomery Village Plan Development Optional Development alternative, a cleanup intended to match the zoning map and master plan.
Board counsel said the development option dated to the 1980s and had been removed from the zoning map in 1996 but remained in the text of the ordinance. "This is basically a cleanup to go back and make sure that that is taken care of," counsel said, noting no active proposal or new work at Princeton Airport is driving the change.
Board members raised a question about wording that made the amendment sound like a pending airport modification. Counsel and staff clarified that no new airport activity is proposed; the reference reflects historic changes to the airport that made the development alternative infeasible. After discussion the board voted unanimously to recommend the ordinance to the governing body for final action.
The recommendation is advisory — the governing body will consider formal adoption. The board recorded no public commenters on the ordinance; the item will next appear in the municipality's legislative process.
