West End survey finds more soil disturbances than expected; identification of graves remains uncertain

President Christine Nelson reported that recent radar and thermal surveys at West End Cemetery identified more 'disturbances in the soil' than the association expected. The minutes state it is unclear which of the anomalies correspond to actual graves and that the matter will be continued for further study.
Members discussed related maintenance: all stones in the area have been cleaned, tree-clearing debris is being removed, and mulch donated by Burns Tree Service has been spread. The association noted concerns about sunken stones and poor soil at the site and agreed to continue discussion and assessment.
The association also scheduled a public tour of West End Cemetery for Oct. 25, to be conducted by trustee Cheri Ferrari in partnership with the Historical Society.
