Lon Seidman, an Essex board member, previewed a meeting of board chairs and boards of selectmen that will form committees to examine four areas: governance, school consolidation, financial objections and teaching and learning. Seidman said this work will be discussed further at the Joint Board meeting.
Committee members noted upcoming committee meetings for Curriculum, Finance and Policy and emphasized that the timing of committee formation depends on election results; when asked by Wendy King of Chester how the election would affect committee formation, the committee responded that committees will be formed after the election.
The committee did not take binding action on governance or consolidation at the Oct. 9 meeting; those matters will move to the Joint Board agenda for additional discussion and possible committee assignments.
