The Chester Cemetery Association approved the minutes of its March 3, 2025 business meeting and unanimously appointed Glenn Seaburg as treasurer effective immediately, the association reported at its June 2 business meeting at Town Hall.
Christine Nelson, association president, presided over the meeting. Lee Foster, the association secretary, recorded approval of the minutes. The nomination of Glenn Seaburg was made to replace Jane Cable, who is moving out of town; members voted to approve the nomination unanimously.
The group reviewed current financials, reporting a checking account balance of $10,859.83. Association members noted the new treasurer will investigate tax-exempt status and accounting arrangements before engaging a new accountant.
Because the town attorney advised reinstating the group's 501(c)(13) status as a 'Cemetery Association' and noted that adding a 501(c)(3) companion status could expand funding eligibility, Seaburg will research options and report back before the association retains accounting help.
The meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m.; the association set future meeting dates for cemetery checkups and its next business meeting in October.
