An initial ballot resulted in a tie, and a revote produced a three-to-two result in favor of Harden, who then moved to the chair seat. Carmen Lone was nominated and approved as vice chair without contest.
Board members used the reorganization time to brief newly elected members on quarterly treasurer-warrant responsibilities, committee-liaison expectations and the process for reviewing payroll and accounts payable warrants. The town manager described the practical steps for quarterly warrant review: department heads and the manager review requests before the select members assigned for the quarter sign the warrants.
The board also assigned liaisons for several standing and advisory committees, including community development and investment, ordinance review, open space, energy efficiency, and park stewardship. New members were told some committees meet infrequently and that liaison duties typically involve attending committee meetings and reporting back to the board.
The board set meeting dates for July 14, July 28 and Aug. 11, 2026, and adjourned the session.
