The Harrison Select Board on June 25 approved a one-year contract to rehire Daryl in an expanded grant-coordinator role. Daryl told the board he has helped secure outside funding for recent infrastructure projects and is now coordinating multiple grant applications and planning projects intended to reduce the town’s share of construction costs.
Daryl said he has ‘‘brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars’’ for projects including stream crossings and other infrastructure, and described three submitted grant applications with a combined project estimate of about $3 million. He listed potential matches and partners — USDA, Lakes Environmental, MDOT planning funds, and county CDBG — and said the town’s share for some projects could be small if matching funds materialize.
Daryl outlined additional work: downtown facade programs, technical coordination with engineers, and presentations on tax-increment financing (TIF) options. Board members asked about contingency plans if not all federal grants are awarded; Daryl said projects could be shifted to state funding opportunities or a referendum if necessary.
A motion to approve the proposed FY27 contract passed by voice vote; the board recorded five members in favor.
