Dennis board places CPC items; Dennis Housing Authority warns extension reduces slots

Regina White, chair of the Housing Authority, told the board that while the extension allows the program to continue for currently enrolled participants, CPC insistence on a fixed expiration date (rather than a rolling end based on enrollment) resulted in suspending enrollments as of 12/31/2025 and effectively reduced the programs capacity by seven slots; she estimated about $86,000 of originally awarded funds would return to CPC under the amended language. Members of the Affordable Housing Trust (Bob Samalak) warned demand remains high and offered that the Trust had voted to fund five additional slots but preferred the town honor the previously awarded slots.
Board discussion: members expressed sympathy for the DHA and requested a CPC representative attend the next meeting to explain the rationale for a fixed date, with an intention to revisit placement if more information surfaced. The board ultimately placed the CPC items and asked staff to seek further clarification from CPC members and the housing lottery coordinator.
