The Jenks City Council on June 23 approved an agreement with the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) to produce a five‑minute video showcasing the Jenks Fire Department, and then approved a supplemental appropriation to pay the production cost.
Fire Chief Jim Ostrom told the council the IAFC (via IAFC TV) asked to highlight Jenks for its recent investments — a new station, a SAFER grant, an in‑house training academy and cultural changes in the department. The production cost is $27,000; Ostrom said the city would own the footage and could use it for recruitment and outreach, while IAFC would market the piece to conference attendees and host it on its YouTube channel for at least a year.
The council approved both the agreement and a resolution to appropriate funds; councilors discussed rights and how the city may reuse the video for recruitment and fundraising but did not object to the appropriation.
What’s next: Staff and the chief will finalize contract terms and arrange production. The city confirmed it will have rights to edit and reuse the footage from day one, and IAFC will handle conference‑level distribution.
