Warrick County School Corp board approves hires, grants leaves and records multiple resignations

At its meeting, the Warrick County School Corporation board approved recommended personnel actions including new hires, leaves of absence and recorded resignations across the district.
Director of Human Resources Dr. Doug Gresham presented the personnel slate. He listed certified hires including Alicia Zoss (fifth grade teacher, Sharon Elementary), Ashton Green (K3 teacher, Tennyson Elementary), Carol Lair (special education teacher, Castle High) and non-certified staff including program assistant Hadlen Ebling at Castle High and ABS program assistants Felicity Turnock and Rachel Ramos Gonzales and Misty Harris at Castle South. Dr. Gresham also read several resignations and their effective dates, including William Ryan Gilliam (special education teacher, Chandler Elementary) and others with May and June effective dates.
A motion by Mr. Skinner, seconded by Mr. Mosby, approved the certified and non-certified hires by voice vote. The board similarly approved leaves for Steven Michaels (full-time custodian, Oakdale Elementary) and Sydney Byers (special education teacher, Castle South) on a motion by Mr. Baker and second by Mrs. Wilhelmus.
When asked how the district was "sitting on teacher openings" for the start of school, Dr. Gresham replied that district hiring was "doing a pretty good job," but acknowledged recent resignations and people moving out of state and said some positions remain posted and the district is still trying to hire a few positions.
The board recorded the resignations presented by HR; the meeting then moved on to reports and announcements.
