Scott County Council approves a slate of budget amendments, funds bridge repairs and EV chargers

The Scott County Council approved a series of budget amendments and appropriations during its May 12 meeting at Old City Hall, authorizing bridge repairs, TIF-funded electric vehicle chargers and a range of department-level transfers and equipment purchases.
The most substantial single line item approved was Ordinance 2026-67, which allocates $75,000 from the Cumulative Bridge fund for bridge repair and maintenance. Superintendent Hall warned the council that recent floods caused more than $100,000 in local road damage, underscoring the need for maintenance appropriations.
Council members also approved Ordinance 2026-68, allocating $41,200 from the TIF fund for EV chargers; Ordinance 2026-66, $15,580 for professional services at the Transfer Station; and several smaller appropriations and transfers across the Treasurer, I.T., Veterans Affairs, EMS, Venture Trucking and Recovery Court budgets. All of those motions passed unanimously or by recorded majorities in routine votes.
In the I.T. Department presentation, Mr. Campbell requested a phishing-prevention add-on to an existing software contract and reported that computer upgrades are proceeding slowly. Mr. Campbell also asked the council to allow same-series fund transfers without separate Council approval; the Council agreed to draft a revision to Ordinance 2025-63 and consider it at the June meeting.
