The Northampton License Commission unanimously approved the transfer, change of location and change of license type on an annual all-alcohol restaurant license from Freedom Post 28 Incorporated (American Legion) to PGD Foodie Group Incorporated DBA Great Wall Restaurant at 176 Pine Street.
George Ducharme, the proposed manager, appeared at the public hearing and said he sought a full license because customers had asked for cocktails to accompany Chinese food; "a lot of people enjoy scorpion bowls and zombies," he told the commission. Commissioners noted prior wine-and-malt service had not produced issues and closed the hearing before voting to approve the transfer and change of license type from "club" to "restaurant."
There were no public commenters. Staff will execute the license transfer paperwork and the new license will be subject to the usual compliance obligations for all-alcohol restaurant licenses.
