Northampton commission clears Taste of Northampton vendors and outdoor-dining extension for Sub Rosa

The Northampton License Commission on June 17 approved several short-term wine-and-malt licenses for the Taste of Northampton and granted a temporary extension of premises for outdoor dining to Sub Rosa LLC at 33 West Street.
Phil Palante of Vera Cruz Foods told the commission the La Vera Cruzana booth will offer its usual menu and "probably with this license add a sangria drink" for the Taste of Northampton scheduled Sept. 12–13, 2026. Commissioners had no questions and voted to approve that application unanimously.
Bruce McKemmis, representing Oxbow Wines LLC DBA Provisions, said his booth would offer wine and beer with TIPS-certified servers and possibly some food items. Commissioners confirmed all paperwork was in order and approved the short-term license for Provisions for the same Sept. 12–13 dates.
The commission also approved multiple short-term licenses and a nonprofit fee waiver for events at Frank Newhall Look Memorial Park and the Sanctuary at Willow Lake, including ticketed Bombix performances and the Rock, Roll, and Stroll fundraiser on July 25. Mark Penny of Look Park described fenced perimeters, a small beer-and-wine tent with certified staff, and vendor arrangements.
Separately, Kel Komenda asked to place tables "right up against the windows" at 33 West Street after being denied backyard seating; commissioners approved a temporary extension of premises for outdoor dining on public property (166 square feet on the sidewalk) with the requirement that the space be delineated (planters were confirmed as acceptable).
All votes on the above items were unanimous. Staff will follow up with applicants about any remaining paperwork. The commission noted absent applicants (including Progression and Local Burger) will be added to the July agenda if they do not appear before then.
