The Village of Lake Bluff Architecture Board recommended approval Tuesday of a sign permit for Coons Chevrolet at 1 Sherwood Terrace.
Matt Holly, a representative of Bright Light Sign, told the board the proposal replaces two exchange signs with a single east-elevation Chevrolet sign featuring a brushed-aluminum backing and a Lexan blue face with internally mounted LED illumination. Holly said electrical conduit would run through the wall into an interior junction box and that no conduit or junction boxes would be visible on the building exterior.
Board members asked about materials and lighting. One member asked whether the letters would be internally lit and whether any electrical boxes would be visible; Holly replied they would be internally lit LED letters, with conduit run through the wall and the driver housed inside the dealership so nothing would be mounted on the exterior. Members also confirmed the proposed sign would be a single sign on the east elevation.
After discussion, a board member moved to recommend the sign permit as submitted; the motion received a second and passed on a roll-call vote, with Member Wex, Member Straighta, Member Carowwak, Member Degan, Member Dolman and Chair Hunter recorded in favor.
The board’s recommendation will go to the Village Board for final action.
