At its March 17 session the Franklin County Board of Commissioners approved multiple budget amendments for the Franklin County Board of Education and county funds, authorized grant pre‑applications and cleared a capital outlay note for fiber installation.
Resolutions amended the Board of Education general fund to reallocate funds for vocational and instructional line items, capital outlay and program support (the packet lists multiple line adjustments totaling in the mid‑to‑hundreds of thousands for specific accounts). County General, Library and Solid Waste funds also received mid‑year cleanup adjustments; the Highway Fund received a $150,000 capital outlay allocation for highway equipment.
The commission approved submission of a TVA InvestPrep grant pre‑application and supported a Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development site‑development grant pre‑application for an industrial site. Members also authorized a capital outlay note of $450,000 to finance county fiber installation.
Finance Committee materials included the January finance director’s report, trustee interest summaries and local option sales tax reports. Committee recommendations to the full commission were recorded in committee minutes and the full board voted to adopt the recommended budget amendments and grant actions.
Commissioners voted unanimously on the majority of the financial items. The county’s finance director will continue to track these amendments and report on grant award outcomes and capital‑note structuring as those processes move forward.
