The Orange Board of Education held officer elections after the previous chair left the board for another appointment. Dr. Scarpetti opened nominations for chair. Miss Richio (current secretary) nominated Mr. Cap; Mrs Hadlock nominated Mr. Zimon. Mr. Zimon later withdrew his nomination and the board recorded a unanimous vote electing Mr. Cap as board chair.
Nominations for vice chair produced two candidates: Susan Riio and Tatiana Massina Mullen. After votes were cast, Tatiana Massina Mullen received a majority and was elected vice chair. Miss Riio retained her role as board secretary.
During the process board members asked procedural clarifying questions about ballot appearance and voting eligibility (board members may vote for nominated members only); the chair confirmed the board follows a majority-vote rule and repeated ballots are held if no candidate receives a majority. After elections, the new chair resumed the meeting.
The board then moved on to approve the 2025 meeting calendar with minor date corrections and voted to adopt the calendar as corrected.
