Finance director Mr. Gray told the board that a range of federal and state grants are active and at different stages of expenditure. He said a $30,000 ARA online Abuse Prevention grant is on hold while the state finalizes availability, the ARPA "Right to Read" grant originally for $79,000 now shows $58,000 remaining, and a multiyear ARPA summer mental-health supports grant (initially $50,000 in year one) is about half spent with roughly $22,000 remaining for the current year.
Mr. Gray listed a Connecticut high-dosage tutoring grant for middle-school math ($156,000 total; about $62,000 remaining), a $20,000 primary mental health grant not yet spent for the year, an ARPA-funded school mental health specialist position (a $92,000 grant in year two that will phase to operating budget in later years), and smaller IDEA Part B supports for paraprofessionals with about $2,178 remaining. He said auditors are conducting the 2023–24 review and the district filed Educational Financial Systems materials early.
On food services, Mr. Gray reminded families that the paid lunch price is $3.40 for the 2024–25 school year and encouraged families who may qualify to submit free- or reduced-price applications available on the district website. He closed by noting that budget-collection documents for the 2025–26 budget will be sent to department heads by the end of September and drafts will be due at the end of October.
Board members asked no substantive follow-up questions on the finance report during the meeting.
