County staff brief supervisors on bridge work, paving schedules and flood delays

County engineering staff updated the board on active secondary-roads projects and how recent weather has affected schedules. Jaden Shekele said crews shifted from reclamation to mowing after heavy rain; Spring Brook (Z‑15) bridge work is complete aside from grading and paving tie-in, with about a month of work remaining depending on weather. The Chennaworth bridge on 82nd Avenue has most substructure work complete and abutments recently poured; the next steps include poured abutments and deck work.
Shekele said subdrain work on Bernard Road (E17 to the Crabtown Bridge) is finished and a contractor is scheduled to pave the segment next Tuesday, weather permitting. High river levels earlier this spring delayed pier work at some bridges because crews could not build cofferdams; contracts measure time in working days and such delays were not charged to the contractor when pumping and dewatering were impossible.
Staff also noted a completed fog seal on Z20 that will not receive permanent pavement markings until the seal has cured (approximately 21–30 days). Board members asked about driveway grades where overlays raise pavement, and staff explained plans to taper grades over distances to avoid steep transitions for farm equipment and semitrailers.
No board action was required; supervisors thanked staff for the updates.
