Carter County accepts Fish Springs Park (survey required) and Old Tweetsie Railroad Route gifts

On the Old Tweetsie Railroad Route, commissioners debated liability and what would be required to make the trail, bridge and tunnel safe. Commissioner Mike Hill noted engineering designs already exist and cited possible grant funding to offset costs. After discussion the commission voted to accept the Tweetsie route gift from Valley Forge / Hampton Area (vote: 21 yes, 2 no).
Both votes direct county staff to follow up with surveys, liability assessments and grant research; the Fish Springs acceptance is explicitly conditioned on a corrected survey prior to final deed transfer.
