The Saugatuck City Council voted unanimously Sept. 9 to install historic markers at Village Square Park and the west Chain Ferry dock and to form a Tri‑Community Wildlife Management Committee with the City of the Village of Douglas and Saugatuck Township.
Motion by Councilmember Dean, seconded by Councilmember Muncey, approved the historic marker installations contingent on final placement to be signed off by city staff. In the same meeting, a motion by Councilmember Anderson, seconded by Mayor Pro‑Tem Baldwin, established a Tri‑Community Wildlife Management Committee with a sunset date of Dec. 31, 2025; the council appointed Councilmember Dean to serve on the committee.
Both votes were recorded as unanimous. The historic markers item will return to staff for final location details; the wildlife committee is established as a time‑limited interjurisdictional partnership unless the council later votes to extend it past the December 2025 sunset.
Other routine business that carried included approval of the consent agenda and accounts payable. The council also rescheduled its October and November regular meeting dates.
