Sterling Board elects new officers, thanks outgoing member
Summary
At its Nov. 19 meeting the Sterling Board of Education unanimously elected Courtney Langlois as chair and installed other officers; the board also recognized outgoing member Dorothy Capobianco and noted a vacant seat will be filled by appointment in December.
Theodore Friend, superintendent, called the Sterling Board of Education to order at 6 p.m. on Nov. 19 and the board opened by recognizing outgoing member Dorothy Capobianco for her service.
Courtney Langlois was nominated for board chair by Victoria Robinson‑Lewis and the nomination was seconded by Catherine Malo; the board voted unanimously to elect Langlois and she took over the meeting. John Brady nominated Jennifer Mossner for vice chair with Robinson‑Lewis seconding; Mossner was elected unanimously. Mossner and Brady then moved and seconded the nomination of Victoria Robinson‑Lewis as treasurer; the board approved the nomination unanimously. Catherine Malo moved, with Robinson‑Lewis seconding, to nominate John Brady as vice treasurer; that motion also passed unanimously.
Superintendent Friend told the board that because no Republican candidate appeared on the recent town ballot, the board must appoint a replacement member at its December meeting. He said the December meeting will include interviews of interested candidates and that the appointee may be Republican, Democrat or Independent.
The board adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
