Saugatuck staff told the council on Aug. 7 that the city's contract with Shoreline Technology expired at the end of July and that Shoreline proposed a new two‑year agreement with several updates.
Under the proposal the base two‑year agreement would remain at the same total price for both years. Shoreline proposes increasing the essential user support plan by $10 per user per month and offering an optional advanced security plan at $35 per user per month; the advanced plan would include protections against unauthorized downloads, ongoing security awareness training for staff and periodic security assessments. Shoreline also proposed updating the city server software to a currently supported product, with one‑time labor estimated at $2,500 and a license fee of $1,069.
Council discussion focused on budget impacts and on whether staff should add the advanced security plan. No formal action was taken at the workshop; staff will return with recommendation and cost implications for council consideration.
